I don’t know about you, but I LOVE watching screen adaptations of books I’ve enjoyed. It gives me another chance to connect with characters I loved, and it lets me see them through the author’s eyes. Sometimes it’s just as I pictured it, and sometimes it’s nothing like my imagination.
On the other hand, though, I hate book covers that are replaced with movie scenes!

Big Little Lies
Everyone knows about this show (even non-readers!), but this was the one that really kicked off my love of recent book adaptations. Pat was hanging around as I watched the first few episodes, and eventually made me wait to finish it with him. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
I can’t wait for Nine Perfect Strangers, coming soon!
Another great Reese Witherspoon performance. Does she get the first pick of books on her book club list when they start casting actresses? Also starring Kerry Washington, this Hulu series was beautifully shot.
From what I can remember, this show followed the book pretty closely. Amy Adams is a pretty popular pick for these adaptations, and she always does a fantastic job.
This show was particularly interesting. It took the storyline of Are You Sleeping, but told it from the podcaster’s perspective. The book was told from the point of view of Josie, the daughter of the victim.
Another popular Netflix favorite of both readers and non-readers. It was interesting that the show took aspects of both the first two books in each season. Looking forward to You Love Me and Season 3 coming out this year!
