The Book:
Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre, 2020
The Characters:
Cat and her husband William
Neena and her husband Matt
The Plot (from Goodreads):
Welcome to the neighborhood. Watch your husband, watch your friends, and watch your back.
Cat Winthorpe has worked hard to get what she has: a gorgeous home; social standing; and William, her successful, handsome husband. Then a friendly new couple moves into the estate next door. While cautious, a good neighbor like Cat greets them with open arms and warm hospitality.
Neena Ryder isn’t a fellow lady of leisure. A life coach with off-the-rack dresses, personal issues, and a husband who hasn’t delivered, she’s anxious to move up in the world. This beautiful new town is a step in the right direction. It’s also making Neena aware of what she doesn’t have. Namely, William. When Neena’s infatuation escalates into obsession, it’s just a matter of eliminating a few obstacles to get the life she wants. The life next door.
As Neena’s secret fixation grows, so does her friendship with Cat. But beneath their cordial interactions is a wealth of temptations, secrets, and toxic jealousy. For both women, the desire for a perfect life can turn perfectly dangerous.
The Review:
What happens when two warring housewives take things too far? Find out in this fun, easy-to-read thriller. Only one can come out on top!
Add in a compelling thriller plot, and I could not put this book down. I had my suspicions about how things would turn out, but wasn’t able to guess a few other twists.
I was thrilled to see that Alessandra Torre had a new thriller out, since I absolutely loved the Deanna Madden series. While Every Last Secret was extremely different from The Girl in 6E, I loved it just as much.
Neena and Cat were both the ultimate love-to-hate characters. They were both extremely self-centered, stuck up, and bitchy, and it worked so well. I love reading about rich people, especially when their characters are this well done. There’s just something about catty rich bitches going at each other that I love.
Overall very well done, and definitely one to add to your wishlist this Christmas.
Every Last Secret will be available next week on December 1, 2020. Many thanks to Thomas and Mercer for the gifted ARC!
