The Review:
I recently adored Sophie Go’s Lonely Hearts Club, so I was very excited to pick up another matchmaker story! I also loved that the story started with an airplane meet-cute. For some reason that trope really strikes a chord with me!
I liked Edie’s character and her love for her family. Her connection with her grandmother was the sweetest part. Gloria was such a fun and unique character–she seemed so special, and I really wish I had a Gloria of my own!
When I started this book, I wasn’t sure if it was going to end up going in a magical realism direction or not. I really enjoyed the choice the author made in regards to how the matchmaking angle played out.
This was the first book I’ve read by Hannah Orenstein, but I have a whole bunch of her novels on my TBR. I’m looking forward to picking up the next one!
