Did October just fly by for anyone else? For November, I’m going to be doing my TBR a little bit differently.
Someone brought to my attention recently that my NetGalley review ratio is supposed to be above 80%. Guess what mine is?
It’s 33%. That is abysmally low.
It’s been bugging me, so I decided to declare this month #netgalleynovember, and I’m going to use it to get this ratio up! Especially because I have gotten denied for a few titles I was really interested in lately.
For those of you who don’t know, NetGalley is a website where anyone can request early review titles in exchange for an honest review. They ask that you submit your review not less than two weeks before the publication date of the book, and that you share it in a few locations if you are able. You may have noticed my NetGalley badge on a few of my posts in the past!
So for this month, my TBR is my NetGalley shelf, and I’m going to need your help to cheer me on and keep me focused! I’m sure I’ll fall off the wagon and read another book here and there, but I want that ratio to be much higher by the end of the month. (I know, that also means no requesting new books. Ugh!)
I’m setting my goal to a ratio of 50%, which means I have to read four books if I don’t request any new ones. Realistically, I know I’ll request one or two, so I’d love to read 7 current ones to keep me around that 50%. Even higher would be great! I’m also going to focus on reading the ones whose pub dates haven’t passed first, and then I’ll go back and get the ones I totally slacked on.
My issue is that I much prefer physical books over ebooks, so if I have a physical book I’m always going to read that instead. But not this month!
Do you use NetGalley? If so, what is your ratio at? If you would like to join me in this challenge, drop a comment below with your current percentage and where you’d like it to be, and I’ll check in at the end of the month to see if you reached your goal!
Do you follow me on Instagram? If not, you should. If you do, tag me in any #netgalleynovember update posts and I’ll share your progress on my page as well. Happy reading!
Good article. It is very unfortunate that over the last ten years, the travel industry has had to take on terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, influenza, swine flu, and the first ever real global tough economy. Through all of it the industry has proven to be strong, resilient and dynamic, locating new strategies to deal with hardship. There are often fresh problems and the opportunity to which the industry must once again adapt and react.
