The Plot (from Goodreads):
Wedding planner Honor Bellini is in Las Vegas for a work convention when she runs into her sister’s ex-fiance, Owen Stone, who’s also in town for his craft brewery business. They’re both glad to see a familiar face from home…until a night of drinking leads to waking up in bed together–and a marriage certificate from a wedding that neither of them can recall.
Horrified, Owen suggests an immediate annulment. Honor agrees, but when they spend the day together, their chemistry is overwhelming. Plus, Honor has a flash of memory of their steamy wedding night, and she definitely likes what she remembers. They decide to wait before canceling the whole marriage thing, though they both head back to Oklahoma determined not to tell anyone at home what happened in Vegas.
The problem is, Honor and Owen can’t seem to stay away from each other–or keep their hands off one another. The longer they keep their secret, the harder it gets to deny how they really feel. Even worse, this huge secret has the potential to hurt someone they both care about. They need to get an annulment before this accidental marriage turns into love.
The Review:
Thank you to Berkley for a complimentary ebook in exchange for an honest review.
The Accidental Newlywed Game was messy, fun, and steamy! I’ve never read a Jaci Burton book before, but the blurb about the accidental Vegas marriage caught my interest. I didn’t realize this was book #3 of a series! At first I thought that the beginning was a little abrupt, jumping right into the conflict, but it makes a lot more sense when you consider that I missed the backstory of the first two books.
In the previous books, Owen left Honor’s sister at the altar. Honor always had a thing for him, though, and apparently he for her. Talk about messy! I’m a fan of a forbidden romance, though, and Honor and Owen had good chemistry when they were on their own. I’m very curious whether it was set up like that in the previous books! Owen seemed like a sweetheart, and of course my favorite part was the rescue dog.
I loved the vineyard wedding venue setting, and I wish we got to see more of the family and business dynamics. Again, maybe that’s something I missed in the previous books.
I wasn’t sure why Honor didn’t just take Plan B if she was so worried that she might be pregnant. The whole possible-accidental-pregnancy storyline was a little awkward, as there was all this buildup with her worrying and then one day she was suddenly drinking heavily again and oh by the way, she got her period so there was nothing to worry about.
I’m definitely interested in checking out the other books in the Bellini Sisters series.
