The Plot (from Goodreads):
Suzy Medley is having a bad day when a shabby terrier turns up at her door. Just like Suzy, Scout has been abandoned, although only Suzy has been left with a financial mess and a business in tatters thanks to her ex.
Suzy takes Scout in and her chaotic world changes in unexpected ways: strangers have never been more welcoming and her teenage kids can’t wait to come home to visit.
Then a chance encounter on a windy Hebridean beach makes things more complicated, because Suzy isn’t the only one who needs a friend.
Scout has plenty of love to go round… but does Suzy?
The Review:
The Dog Share caught my eye on NetGalley since it looked like the perfect heartwarming rom com. Fun fact: my pup Charlie is responsible for bringing Pat and me together! We met through a mutual friend, but we ended up hanging out a lot because he wanted to play with my new puppy. Three years later, here we are living together and essentially sharing her!
Anyways, I wanted to love this book, but I had a really hard time getting into it. I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t grab my attention the way I hoped it would and I thought it was just okay. The premise was adorable, but the two main characters don’t meet until three quarters of the way through the book!
I loved the parts about Scout, and how the love a dog gives can completely change your outlook on life. I agree, and I think everyone should have a pet!
The Dog Share will be available on March 4, 2021. Many Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Pre-order it here!
