The Plot (from Goodreads):
After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. I don’t have the words for how Abby Jimenez’s writing makes me feel. Luckily, all of Bookstagram already agrees, so I don’t have to say much. If you’re a romance reader that for some reason hasn’t picked this one up yet, make sure you do asap!
Daniel was the perfect small-town cinnamon roll hero, and Alexis was the badass city(?) girl who needed a break. I loved their meet cute and everything about how their relationship progressed. Daniel’s B&B seemed absolutely idyllic, and I loved the hints of magical realism about Daniel’s town that seemed to be nudging him and Alexis together.
After putting it off for way too long, I binged all of Abby’s books back-to-back and I’m so glad I did. I can’t wait for her newest to come out this spring!
