The Plot (from Goodreads):

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

My Review:

Just for the SummerJust for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

LOVED. This book was just so much fun! I loved the premise of Justin and Emma’s curse. I loved the “summer romance that keeps going” theme, the cute dates, the caretaker scenes, and the ugly dog.

Justin was such a sweetie. He’s dealing with so much in his personal life and STILL finds time to be there for and take care of Emma. I say this about every one of Abby’s books, but I’m always in love with the way she perfectly harmonizes humor as well as the complicated emotions of daily life. Don’t be fooled by the cutesy cover–this one cuts deep, just like all of Abby’s books. In the best way!

This book also has a rockstar supporting character: Maddy didn’t get enough credit. She’s been there for Emma for years, sticking with Emma even when Emma doesn’t treat her the best because Maddy knows it’s just Emma’s trauma talking. I adored her!

Maybe I’m just not up to date, but I was NOT expecting a certain reveal! I don’t even know if it was a twist or not, or if I’m just unobservant, but I loved it.

In true AJ fashion, Just For the Summer was full of Easter eggs that her fans will love.
