The Plot (from Goodreads):

Rosie Lachlan wants nothing more than to find The One.

A year after she was dumped in her wedding dress, she’s working at her parents’ bridal salon, anxious for a happy ending that can’t come soon enough. After receiving a life-saving heart transplant, Rosie knows her health is precious and precarious. She suspects her heart donor is Daphne Thorne, the wife of local celebrity author Morgan Thorne, who she begins messaging via an anonymous service called DonorConnect, ostensibly to learn more about Daphne. But Rosie has a secret: She’s convinced that now that she has his wife’s heart, she and Morgan are meant to be together.

As she and Morgan correspond, the pretense of avoiding personal details soon disappears, even if Rosie’s keeping some cards close to her chest. But as she digs deeper into Morgan’s previous marriage, she discovers disturbing rumors about the man she’s falling for. Could Morgan have had something to do with his late wife’s death? And can Rosie’s heart sustain another break—or is she next?

The Reveal:

Edith was Rosie’s impersonator. She had dyed her hair to try out the color after she met Rosie because she admired her. She met Morgan just after Rosie saw him in the cafe, and Edith was the one he had the date with. Edith and Morgan began seeing each other after that.

Edith wasn’t the killer, though. Morgan’s best friend Blaire was still in love with him. She had been in Daphne’s bathroom one day stealing her perfume and Daphne caught her, and Blaire pushed or startled Daphne or something and she fell and hit her head. Blaire assumed Morgan would find Daphne before she died because he was in the next room and had heard the fall, but Morgan didn’t care about Daphne so he didn’t go to check on her and she died.

I can’t remember why Blaire killed Morgan, but she did. She lured Edith there to be her scapegoat. She did the same thing the night she attacked Rosie–she meant to kill her and for Edith to find the body.

The Ending:

Rosie and Edith reconcile at the end of the book. Rosie also catches a vibe from Jackson, the detective.

The Review:

Cross My Heart was so interesting. I love a good stalker thriller, and this one certainly delivered. I flew through the audiobook and enjoyed every minute. I found Rosie’s character to be particularly compelling, especially after the big reveal.
The reveal caught me by surprise! I loved the direction the author took this in. The ending required some suspension of belief, but I enjoyed the journey regardless. Definitely add this one to your TBR!
