The Plot (from Goodreads):
When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. Now he’s stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless string of resort visitors who couldn’t interest him less. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way…
Two weeks in Alaska isn’t just the top item on Zoey Caldwell’s bucket list. It’s the whole bucket. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she’s smitten. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham’s world, she may just find there’s more to the man than meets the eye…and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness.
The Review:
Such a fun, adorable rom-com! This book had everything I look for in a romantic comedy–relatable characters, amusing banter, and a charming setting. I definitely recommend this light-hearted read.
I loved the setting. In addition to the appeal of small-town romances, I recently traveled to Alaska and went to Seward to kayak on Resurrection Bay. It’s always fun to read about places you’ve been. The author did a wonderful job of describing the Alaskan scenery, and made me really want to go back. It was also interesting to see the impacts of tourism from a local’s perspective.
I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the series, as well as Lana’s offshoot!
My one complaint (very minor spoilers ahead): Zoey kept complaining that her trip was ruined and that nothing was going to plan. Girl! You need to lighten up. She got to see whales, moose, and narwhals right up close, she got to stay at an amazing resort she never would have been able to afford on her own, and she got a local’s view of a tourist town. From my perspective, she could not have been luckier! Travel never goes exactly as planned, and that’s part of the thrill of it. Her whining about it not being the perfect trip was annoying.
